Baddle for Better- 65 Roses Gala
As we begin 2023, we wanted take time to highlight one of our 2022 Baddle for Better opportunities that we had the privilege of being a part of.
In November, Baddle had the incredible opportunity to help with the 10th Annual 65 Roses Gala. This was the first gala since the pandemic, and everyone came out with a bang according to Franki Meier, the Development Director for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Central Ohio Chapter.
The 65 Roses Gala was held locally in Cincinnati on November 12, 2022 to raise funds for cystic fibrosis (CF) research and this year the event raised over $104,000! We were a Bid for a Cure Rose supporter which meant we provided long stem roses to be given to donors as a thank you for making an outright donation to support CF research during the event. In addition, we donated some of our paddles to be auctioned off at the event to raise additional funds towards CF research.
Roses are a significant symbol for the CF community, which is where this event gets its name. The “65 Roses” story dates back to 1965 when an observant 4-year-old, hearing the name of his disease for the first time, pronounced cystic fibrosis as "65 Roses."
Today, “65 Roses®” is a term often used by young children with cystic fibrosis to pronounce the name of their disease. The "65 Roses®" story has captured the hearts and emotions of many and we want to share with the pickleball community. And the rose, a symbol of love, has come to represent the CF community.
The sport of pickleball has brought so many people and communities together and Baddle wants to help support these communities in any way that we can. We feel thankful to have had the opportunity to help support this event for the CF community.
Keep reaching out to us with any events or organizations that we can help!
